Trézór Bridge®™ — Official Guide

Overview

Trezor Bridge is a lightweight communication tool that allows your Trezor hardware wallet to securely interact with web browsers and web-based applications such as Trezor Suite (Web). It acts as a trusted “bridge” between your device and the browser when native USB support is not available or fully reliable.

What Is Trezor Bridge?

Trezor Bridge is a background service installed on your computer that enables communication between:

  • Your Trezor hardware wallet
  • Your web browser
  • Web-based crypto applications that support Trezor

It does not store private keys, wallet data, or personal information.

When Do You Need Trezor Bridge?

You need Trezor Bridge if:

  • You use Trezor Suite in a web browser
  • Your browser does not fully support WebUSB
  • You interact with third-party web wallets or services that require it

You do NOT need Trezor Bridge if:

  • You use the Trezor Suite desktop application
  • Your browser supports WebUSB and the site explicitly uses it

Supported Operating Systems

Trezor Bridge is available for:

  • Windows
  • macOS
  • Linux

Once installed, it runs silently in the background.

How Trezor Bridge Works

  1. You install Trezor Bridge from the official Trezor website
  2. The service runs automatically in the background
  3. When you open a supported web app, it detects Trezor Bridge
  4. Communication between the browser and device is established securely
  5. All sensitive actions still require confirmation on the Trezor device

At no point does Trezor Bridge gain access to your private keys.

Installation Steps (Official Only)

  1. Visit the official Trezor website
  2. Download the Trezor Bridge installer for your operating system
  3. Run the installer and follow on-screen instructions
  4. Restart your browser if required
  5. Connect your Trezor device

Once installed, no additional configuration is usually necessary.

Security & Privacy

Trezor Bridge:

  • Does not collect or transmit personal data
  • Does not store wallet information
  • Cannot approve transactions on its own
  • Works only when a Trezor device is physically connected

All transaction confirmations happen on the device screen.

Common Issues & Fixes

Device not detected

  • Restart your browser
  • Ensure Trezor Bridge is running
  • Try a different USB cable or port

Conflicts with Trezor Suite Desktop

  • Close the desktop app when using the web version
  • Only one application can access the device at a time

Browser Compatibility

  • Chrome, Firefox, and Brave are commonly supported
  • Ensure your browser is up to date

Security Warnings 🚨

  • Never download Trezor Bridge from third-party sites
  • Ignore pop-ups asking for recovery seeds
  • Trezor Bridge will never ask for your PIN or seed phrase
  • Always confirm actions on your physical Trezor device

Summary

Trezor Bridge is a secure, essential component for users who access Trezor through web browsers. It enables safe communication without compromising the core principle of hardware security: your private keys never leave your device.
